Hunter Road and the Moore's Creek Bridge

Photo of Hunter Road and bridge

The tour begins by leaving the Phillips/Howell farmstead and heading towards Hunter Road which is crossed at the Moore's Creek ford just upstream from the bridge. The road down to Hunter Road is the original entry to the Phillips/Howell farm.

Moore's Creek is the stream that, along with its tributaries from the mountain slopes, drains Pleasant Valley as a tributary of the Delaware River. It is a former millstream that once provided waterpower for gristmills in the area. Formerly called Smith's Creek, it was named for a family that once lived in the area.
